The Third G8-BMENA Ministerial Meeting on Education was held in Bonn, at the Steigenberger Grandhotel Petersberg. The Senior Officials Meeting took place in Bad Honnef, Hotel Seminaris.

Until 1999 Bonn was the seat of government of the Federal Republic of Germany. Even today it still retains some governmental functions as Bundesstadt (Federal city). Set in the beautiful Rhine valley between the Siebengebirge hills and the Eifel, Bonn enjoys a rich heritage from its 2,000-year history.1

The Steigenberger Grandhotel Petersberg, where the Third G8-BMENA Ministerial Meeting on Education was held, lies high above the river Rhine in a beautiful landscape. The Petersberg is part of the nature park "Siebengebirge" and is therefore amidst one of the oldest nature preserves in Germany.2

The Hotel Seminaris, where the Senior Officials Meeting und Education Task Force Meeting was held, a strong quartet in Bad Honnef: Seminaris Kongresspark. Two Hotels, a congressional hall and a wellness & beauty center. Situated in the well cared-for park with old timer, the Kongresspark is a green meeting island, which can hold a total capacity of up to 1000 participants during meetings and conferences.3

The Beethoven Monument on the Münsterplatz was unveiled in August 1845 in honour of Beethoven's 75th birthday at the first Beethoven Festival. The statue's stance and symbolism characterise the "inspired composer" who, with an upward-turned gaze, seems to receive a creative inspiration to record it in his notebook with his stylus. With over fifty concerts each year performed by top international orchestras, eminent ensembles, prominent soloists and promising young artists, plus the fact that it lasts for nearly four weeks during September and October, the Beethovenfest Bonn has developed into a big musical event attracting interest far beyond the Rhineland.
